A year following the 2020 summer time of protest against systemic racism and firms outlining their commitment for higher representation, practically 20% of organizations are not tracking any diversity metrics in their recruitment or hiring practices.

The State of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace report, created by talent cloud business iCIMS and Talent Board, a nonprofit candidate encounter benchmark study organization, was issued to far better recognize how the altering conversation about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) has truly manifested itself inside talent acquisition more than the previous year. Among the findings, the study revealed that technologies implementation is the typical tactic in deliberate efforts to eliminate unconscious bias in hiring.

The study identified that 47% of organizations have implemented technologies to support lessen unconscious bias in their recruiting and hiring. Although 53% have not implemented such technologies, one-third of that figure plans to do so in the future.

And though 60% of organizations have instituted diverse slate policies or diversity-focused hiring ambitions, only 34% embed these targets at the recruiter or hiring manager level. Taken with each other, the study suggests that nicely-intentioned C-suites are struggling to channel the widespread need for a more diverse, representative and bias-totally free atmosphere into normal hiring practices.

Part of the challenge is that bias is not possible to absolutely do away with at the human level – that is exactly where technologies shines. Before interviews, for instance, hiring managers can run resumes via an artificial intelligence program to eliminate something that could lead to bias on the aspect of the interviewer – name, address/place, college, GPA, and so on. This enables the interviewer to focus on the elements that matter – abilities, encounter, prospective and outcomes.
