Atmosphere introduces Chive Trivia for bars, gyms and restaurants

Atmosphere, a connected TV platform dedicated to businesses, has launched Chive Trivia, a channel set to generate trivia games in over 60,000 bars, restaurants, gyms, and select venues across the U.S.

Chive Trivia aims to turn passive screens into vibrant hubs of engagement and interaction. It’s a lot like the deceased HQ Trivia, where lots of people compete all at once in a single game.

Chive Trivia, available exclusively on Atmosphere’s network, invites patrons to participate in live global trivia contests directly from their favorite hangout spots. Accessible via all Atmosphere TV devices and companion apps for iOS and Android, this free feature engages audiences by offering a synchronized gaming experience that spans venues worldwide.

Players can join the globally synchronized game by scanning a QR code displayed on the channel. Once in the contest, participants use the companion app to answer trivia questions, competing for top spots on venue and global leaderboards. The game amplifies the thrill with streak callouts, rivalries, score highlights, and introduces in-game abilities like power-ups, sabotages, and strategic defenses after each question.

Engagement and advertising synergy

Blake Sabatinelli, CEO at Atmosphere, said in a statement the platform’s mission to craft immersive shared experiences.

“Our Chive Trivia offers a fresh spin on venue entertainment, creating an environment for friends, peers, and global participants to engage meaningfully,” Sabatinelli said.

Beyond elevating patron engagement, Chive Trivia serves as an advertising tool. The channel transforms passive viewing into active competition. By combining TV screens with companion mobile apps, it provides a dual platform for brands to reach a wide audience in real-time, creating a dynamic ambiance for customers and prime advertising opportunities for businesses.

Atmosphere’s presence in public environments like bars, restaurants, gyms, and doctors’ offices will reinvigorate TV screens as engaging entertainment and marketing platforms, the company said. With over half of U.S. adults over 18 engaged with FAST TV, the platform has 131.5 million unique viewers.

The success of Atmosphere was underscored by its selection as a 2023 Deloitte Technology Fast 500 winner, acknowledging its rapid growth among technology companies in North America.
