Samsung to take away advertisements from preloaded apps in Galaxy devices via new update

South Korean electronics giant Samsung will quit displaying ads in apps pre-installed on its Galaxy series of smartphones. The development will lastly lay to rest an old customer complaint more than the undesirable promotional content that they had been forced to consume in spite of spending hundreds of thousands on the company’s premium smartphones.

Samsung, like some Chinese producers such as Xiaomi, serves advertisements on its phones, such as the higher-finish Galaxy S21 Ultra and the not too long ago launched Galaxy Z Flip 3. The corporation has announced some of its proprietary apps such as Samsung Weather, Samsung Theme, and Samsung Pay would no longer show advertisements following an update, according to South Korean news agency Yonhap.

T.M. Roh, the company’s mobile chief, announced throughout a current town hall meeting that the corporation would take away advertisements from its native apps to boost user knowledge. The update will attain customers later this year, Samsung later confirmed to The Verge.

The corporation told The Verge that it had decided to quit ads on proprietary apps such as Samsung Pay, Samsung Weather, and Samsung Theme and added that the update would be prepared later this year.

According to Yonhap, Samsung will make the update accessible via a new One UI release. However, it has not made it clear if the modify would be efficient for all customers, such as these who have very affordable Galaxy smartphones. The corporation is also tight-lipped on no matter whether the update would be made accessible for customers in India, as effectively as their counterparts about the world.

Some Samsung customers took to Reddit last year to complain about the undesirable content on their smartphones. They shared screenshots to emphasise how the corporation showed advertisements of distinctive sizes, which had been not just text based but also with photos. Some of these advertisements even covered a third of the phone screen.
